A space for neurodivergent and busy brains

The Non-Linear Space

Understand your brain, find what works, and help your kids do the same.

There has to be a better way

Maybe you’ve spent years wondering why things that seem straightforward for other people can feel so ridiculously hard.

You know what you need to do, but can’t always make yourself start. You make plans and forget they exist. You find a system that works brilliantly… until suddenly it doesn’t.

You’ve tried the planners, the apps, the routines and the advice that tells you to be more disciplined, more consistent or just try harder.

But most of that advice starts with the assumption that there’s a right way to do things.

I don’t believe there is.
And I want our kids to grow up knowing how to find what works for them too.

To understand their own brains. To discover what helps them learn, organise themselves, manage challenges and get things done. And ultimately, to become more confident in figuring things out for themselves.

Where it all started…

This story of The Non-Linear Space started around 15 years ago, in a conference room called CR9.

I wanted to apply for professional registration, but even though I had a decade of engineering experience, the company wouldn’t support me as I had the wrong degree – astrophysics, not engineering…

I wasn’t the only one. There were a handful of perfectly capable engineers in the same position who simply didn’t tick the right box on paper.

So I booked CR9 (Conference Room 9), brought a pack of biscuits and waited to see if anyone would show up.

They came. Week after week, we worked through the process together; the forms, personal statements, interview practice. Every one of us got through, and we even got the company process changed so the next person wouldn’t need to fight for it the way we did.

That group came to a natural end, but the idea of CR9 continued. I kept creating rooms for people who didn’t quite fit the system as it had been designed.

I didn’t realise it then, but CR9 was never really about professional registration. It was about creating a space where people could stop struggling on their own, learn from one another, and find a way forward that worked for them.

CR9 was the name of that first room.
The Non-Linear Space is what that idea has grown into.

This is what The Non-Linear Space is

A place to get curious about how differently-working brains actually work, and what helps them thrive.

We’ll explore executive function, motivation, emotions, habits and subconscious patterns to help you understand your brain and discover your own way of doing things.

And we’ll also explore how to help our kids understand their brains, develop the skills they need and become more confident managing things for themselves.

For their brains, and for ours.

What happens inside?

🧪 A new experiment every week
One small, practical thing to try, designed to help you understand your brain, test a different approach and notice what actually helps.

💬 Monthly coaching and Q&A
Bring whatever is happening in real life; work, home or with your kids. We’ll explore what’s getting in the way and work out something useful to try next.

⚡ Monthly Focus Room
A relaxed body-doubling session for getting on with the thing you’ve been meaning to do. Bring your work, life admin, planning, paperwork or whatever needs your attention. We’ll get started together, then quietly get on with it.

🧠 Support for understanding your kids’ brains too
Explore the executive skills underneath things like getting started, planning, remembering, managing emotions and becoming more independent, and how you can support those skills without always having to do the managing.

👋 A community of other non-linear brains
A place to ask questions, share what’s working (and what’s not), compare notes and realise you’re not the only one figuring this stuff out.

And I’ll be in there regularly too, answering questions, sharing ideas and helping you work out what to experiment with next.

Is The Non-Linear Space for you?

You don’t need to fit a particular label to fit in here.

Everything we explore is created with a neurodivergent and busy brains in mind, but you don’t need a diagnosis to belong here.

If you’re tired of trying to force your brain to work in ways that don’t seem to fit, you’ll be welcome here.

And if you want to help your kids understand their brains and discover what works for them too, you’re in the right place.

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m an Executive Function Coach and Clinical Hypnotherapist, and I’m fascinated by why our brains do what they do – especially when they don’t seem to do what we want them to.

My own path has been fairly non-linear too, from astrophysics and engineering to executive function coaching and hypnotherapy.

These days, I help people understand what’s going on underneath the things they find difficult, and find ways forward that work with their brains rather than against them.

And increasingly, I’m interested in how we can help our kids develop that understanding earlier, so they can learn how their own brains work, what helps them, and how to figure things out for themselves.

The Non-Linear Space brings those two things together.

You might be wondering…

Do I need a diagnosis to join?

No. Everything is built with neurodivergent and busy brains in mind, but you’re just as welcome if you’re self-suspected, undiagnosed, or simply know your brain works differently and always has.

Do I need to have kids?

No. Understanding and supporting our kids’ brains is part of The Non-Linear Space, but there’s plenty here that’s about understanding and supporting your own.

Is this a parenting programme?

No. I’m not here to tell you how to parent your child. We’ll explore what’s going on underneath the things they might be struggling with, the executive skills involved, and ways you can help them discover what works for their brain.

What if I can't make the live sessions?

That’s fine. The community and weekly experiments are there whenever you need them. You don’t have to attend everything to be part of the space.

Where does it all happen?

Inside Circle, which is a private community platform separate from Instagram or email, so everything lives in one place.

There are free iOS and Android apps, or you can access Circle via a web browser.

Am I tied in?

No. Membership is monthly and you can cancel at any time.
