Young people & parent support

Some brains need a different approach

Support for young people who are stuck, anxious, or working harder than it looks, and for the parents alongside them.

Watching them struggle is its own kind of hard

Young people today are dealing with a lot, and not all of it shows. Studies, friendships, navigating emotions, and making future plans can leave them feeling totally overwhelmed. You know they are capable, and you’ve watched as they try, but something keeps getting in the way.

Maybe they’re:

  • Overwhelmed by their studies and struggle to start or keep focused
  • Anxious about things that seem small from the outside
  • Holding it together at school, then falling apart at home
  • Struggling to sleep, switch off, or wind down
  • Finding friendships and social situations harder than they look
  • Avoiding, shutting down, or getting frustrated easily

Maybe you’re carrying more than you’d like to admit too: the worry, frustration, guilt about getting it wrong, and the constant mental load of trying to figure out what they need.

This work is here for both of you.

Parent support session

Get clarity, and a plan

Sometimes what helps most is having someone who can help you make sense of what’s going on, manage your own feelings about it, and figure out how to help without it turning into an argument or a spiral.

In a parent support session, we’ll cover whatever’s most useful to you, but typically that means:

  • Understanding what might be going on for your young person’s brain, and why the usual approaches aren’t working
  • Working through your own feelings (the worry, the frustration and the helplessness) so you’re responding rather than reacting
  • Building practical strategies for supporting your young person in a way that actually helps, without creating more pressure

This is a practical, honest conversation with someone who understands how executive function and anxiety interact, and can help you untangle what’s going on and make a focused plan.

How it works: One 60-minute session, online or in person (Cranbrook, Kent). Further sessions and block booking packages are also available

Investment: £120

For young people

Find what actually works for them

Some young people work incredibly hard and still feel like they’re falling behind. Others know exactly what they need to do but can’t seem to make themselves do it, and some feel constantly anxious without quite knowing why.

It’s rarely about effort or attitude though. It’s usually a brain that works differently from the way school, and most advice, expects it to.

The young people I work with are often dealing with:

  • Exam stress, revision avoidance, or performance anxiety
  • Big transitions: new school, sixth form, university, or a change in circumstances
  • Difficulty starting tasks, managing time, or staying organised
  • Low confidence, self-doubt, or feeling that everyone else finds it easier
  • Anxiety, overwhelm, or a tendency to shut down under pressure

The work helps them understand how their brain actually works. We build practical tools around that, rather than forcing them into a one-size-fits-all approach.

My approach

Every young person is different, so sessions are shaped around their age, how they think, and what they’re actually dealing with. There’s no one-size-fits-all script.

The work draws on two main approaches:

Hypnotherapy
A calm, creative way to work with the subconscious mind – easing anxiety, shifting unhelpful beliefs, and building confidence from the inside out. As an accredited Hypno4Children™ Practitioner, I use approaches developed specifically for younger brains, including MindHack (anxiety, emotional regulation, and wellbeing) and StudyCalm (exam stress and study habits).

Executive Function Coaching
Executive Functions are the brain’s self-management system. It includes skills like: focus, organisation, planning, managing emotions and getting things done.
These skills are still developing in young people, and they’re often harder to learn for those who are anxious, overwhelmed, or neurodivergent.
EF Coaching helps them understand how their brain works and build tools that actually fit their life.

Qualified, DBS checked, and experienced with younger brains
I hold a specialist qualification in hypnotherapy with children and young people (Hypno4Children™ accredited), alongside my clinical hypnotherapy diplomas and executive function coaching training. I have an Advanced DBS certificate and up-to-date Safeguarding training.

For younger children, a parent or carer attends sessions. For older young people, attendance is agreed in advance. Bespoke recordings are created in collaboration with parents, because your input shapes everything!

Supporting your Young Person

Support is available online or in person (Cranbrook, Kent), and can combine executive function coaching and hypnotherapy depending on what would be most helpful.
Bespoke packages can be created based on your young person’s needs and goals.

    Bespoke Hypnotherapy Recording £120

A personalised audio recording made specifically for your young person, targeting something specific: exam anxiety, sleep, confidence, managing overwhelm, or another area where they’re stuck.

Recordings are a gentle, effective way to work at the subconscious level. They help to shift unhelpful patterns and embed calmer, more confident responses over time. Created just for them, it can be used anytime, either as a standalone tool or to reinforce progress between sessions.

Read this blog post to find out more about bespoke recordings.

    What’s included:

    • A 20-minute chat to explore their needs and goals. This is normally with their parent, but can be done directly with the young person, depending on age

    • A fully personalised hypnotherapy recording, built entirely around them

Best for: addressing a specific issue without the need for regular sessions.

    Single Session £90

A focused 45-minute session to work on something specific – whether that’s a particular worry, a block they keep hitting, or a situation coming up that feels overwhelming.

Best for: if your young person needs help in one key area, e.g. confidence, anxiety, sleep, or motivation.

    6 Sessions £480

Six sessions to understand how their brain works — and build real strategies around that.

We start by getting a clear picture of how they work best; where their strengths are, where things feel harder, and what happens when pressure increases. From there, we build strategies and skills around that, test them in real life, and adjust as we go.

Hypnotherapy can be woven in where it would help, e.g. to shift anxiety, build confidence, or embed new habits more quickly.

    What’s included:

    • 6 x 45-minute sessions
    • Executive function profiling
    • Personalised strategies
    • Emai and text support between sessions

Best for: building consistent skills and shifting patterns that keep coming back.

    Kind Words

“My daughter age 9 was finding the transition to Y5 tough and was struggling with noise, organisation and navigating friendship issues. Kate helped my daughter with a range of techniques to find calm and see the positives around her and the good in herself. My daughter’s ability to calm herself and her confidence have benefited enormously. In the words of my daughter “Kate is really nice and she has fun methods”.”

    Ariana

“Thank you sooooo much for the session on Wednesday. We were astonished when he used the technique again by himself last night, and it has been so helpful.”

    Sophie

“Kate is incredible. I cannot say enough good things about her. She has worked with my daughter for about a year and I have seen such a transformation from an anxious, unhappy child to a child that feels relaxed, confident in who she is and able to deal with situations calmly. Kate has given my daughter many tools to use and the personal meditations have been brilliant. I am so grateful that we found Kate and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone. She has literally changed our lives for the better.”

    Hannah

“I couldn’t thank you enough for your support and helping me move some issues forward and learn new ways to cope.”

    Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from 1:1 sessions?

Sessions are relaxed, supportive, and designed around your young person’s needs. Whether they’re building confidence, calming anxiety, or learning how to stay organised, we move at their pace – without pressure or overwhelm.

Sessions often include grounding tools, creative strategies, coaching techniques, and guided visualisation (where appropriate) to help them feel more in control, more confident, and better able to manage life’s challenges.

How do I know if this is the right fit for my young person?

Book a free Discovery Call here and we can chat about what’s going on and explore whether my approach is a good match. I’ll do my best to help you find the best support for your young person, even if that’s not with me.

How does hypnotherapy work with young people?

Children already spend a lot of their life in a hypnotic state.

The depth of their natural hypnosis depends on their age; with children under the age of 7 predominately in a theta brainwave state (equivelent to sleep or deep meditation), and from 7 to 12 years in alpha (light meditation or relaxation), and then over 12 moving into beta (focused consciousness).

This means that they are highly suggestable and respond well to hypnotherapy.

They don’t need to be guided into hypnosis, like an adult would, they can simply close their eyes and use their imagination.

Hypnotherapy might look like storytelling, guided visualisations, or calm breathing with positive suggestions woven in. It can help with things like anxiety, self-belief, or shifting tricky patterns like people-pleasing or perfectionism. It’s never about control or ‘fixing’, just giving their nervous system and subconscious mind space to settle and reset.

What if my young person is resistant to help?

That’s very common, and absolutely fine as a starting point! We start small – with calming tools, grounding practices, or simply creating a safe space to talk. I always work at a pace that feels manageable, and you’re welcome to book a free call to talk things through.

How involved will I be as a parent?

It depends on your child’s age and needs. For younger children, I will invite you into the sessions. For older teens, sessions are usually 1:1 (depending on their age and needs), but I keep communication open, with regular check-ins and feedback, so you’re always in the loop.

If you are staying for the session, my focus will be directed to your young person but you are very welcome to join in with the exercises and visualisations though!

Before we have the first session, we can talk on the phone (or Zoom) to discuss whatever your young person would like help with, and we can work out how it will all work.

How do I know if it's working?

We’ll check in regularly on progress and reflect together on what’s shifting. Some changes are obvious, like reduced anxiety or improved motivation, while others are more subtle, such as increased self-awareness or better emotional regulation. Parents often notice changes in attitude, confidence, or how their young person handles everyday challenges.
